Experiencing New York Like It’s Home - Placemakr Wall Street

When New York City becomes your new home, even just for a little while.

If you’re anything like us, amidst our travels we dream up ways to relocate and move to the newly discovered city we’re in. During our time in New York, we probably went through this debate at least once a day. Luckily enough, we were staying at a place that felt exactly like home, so really it felt like we already moved in. PlaceMakr is one of those places that allow you to easily explore and discover a city, and at the end of the day come back to familiar comfort.

From the rooms, with everything you need and more, it sits right in the middle of New York’s ever-loved culture of hustle, skyscraping views and endless options of good food and coffee. We loved all the fun corners throughout the building. On one floor you could play games and on another, you’re choosing a record of old-time classics to play on the record player. Places like PlaceMakr bring out the best of hotel amenities and apartment living. It was even so easy to have our parcels delivered during our stay. You know if you’re getting parcels delivered you’re basically home.

What We Loved:

  • Apartment-style hotels are truly a unique way to experience comfort while still having the amenities of a hotel.

  • The gym was really great. Between the two of us we love barre and cycle workouts and it had BOTH - major win.

  • The staff are so friendly and welcoming.

  • It is so well located. Just a walk outside the building and you’re greeted with perfect views of the city, the skyline and the Brooklyn Bridge.

  • Financial District has so much to offer. There is so much within walking distance and so many of the major must-dos all within a few minutes. It’s also so easy to travel out to all the other major attractions and areas. We easily used the Metro and got around seamlessly throughout our stay.

  • The room itself was spacious, and for New York, that’s saying a lot. There are also a ton of other communal areas in the building which are great for working, hanging out and even cooking. There is a kitchen/kitchenette in your room, but if you’re wanting to do more, you can use the communal kitchens. They are so neat and tidy so it doesn’t even feel communal at all.

  • The laundry room is great. Getting to do your laundry while travelling is a game changer. This definitely helped us pack less. These facilities are very neat and well looked after.

  • The on-site coffee shop is great too so there’s no need to head out for a morning cup of coffee.

Tips / Recommendations:

  • For the best coffee in the area take a walk to: Blue Bottle, Black Fox (which is the on-site coffee shop) and LaColombe

  • For some great food and vibes in the area visit, Eately and the Tin Building. These are also great places to pick up some groceries for home-cooked meals. There are a few other places too, but we love market-style dining and shopping.

  • Take a bicycle and cycle to Brooklyn Bridge, it’s so much fun and it’s not too far. There are a few bicycle pick-up spots along the way.

  • Take a stroll outside at night. The skyline view at night is so beautiful and it’s the shortest walk from PlaceMakr.

  • Use the facilities at PlaceMakr. It’s honestly what makes the accommodation and it’ll make you feel like you live there.

  • The Oculus is pretty close by and has some great shopping, although the building itself is worth going to see.
