A Luxury Escape With Everything & More - Hide Montagu

An escape that’ll house memories, calmness and a whole lot of wow’s.

There’s nothing quite like experiencing nature and waking up to the stillness of the sun rising above open water. Our days spent at Hide Montagu took us on an escape in the town of Montagu and welcomed in breathtaking views morning, afternoon and evening.

Situated on the private Le Domaine Eco Reserve lies this gem of a place that we instantly fell in love with. We spent most of our time around the outdoor boma staring out at the mountains and when the sun had set, cosied up inside next to the fireplace playing some of the provided board games. And of course, once we had enjoyed an outdoor bath, which overlooks the dam, we couldn’t help but indulge a few more times over our stay. There’s no hiding that we’re big on catching sunrise so when we got to greet the day with the golden light fully present and coffee in hand, we were at our hearts content.

This is definitely one of those places we loved experiencing together and would even love with friends. It’ll include all the fun of hopping between enjoying all the house has to offer and taking an easy kayak on the dam. There’s no doubt that it’ll house some of your favourite memories as you unwind and take in all Hide has to offer.

What We Loved:

  • The attention to detail is everything. Who doesn’t love a cool pair of old-school binoculars and a fluffy white gown awaiting your arrival? Both adventure and comfort.

  • We LOVED that all the doors opened up fully to the most remarkable view.

  • Mornings on the kayak were so calming and beautiful.

  • We brought our mountain bikes with and had such a great cycle discovering the area - which is so big and beautiful.

  • Although we went as a couple, it’s a great space for friends or a small family. It’s designed in such a way that you have great communal space, but enough privacy once you’re in your room.

  • There is so much to do. You can easily fill your day up with board games (which is provided) by the indoor fire, swimming, catching sunset around the boma on the deck and making a pizza for dinner.

  • The outdoor bath had a great view. Definitely bathed multiple times.

  • There is a dishwasher and washing machine. I know at first you’re like why, but then you’re like this is luxury and I’m here for it.

Tips / Recommendations:

  • Take a morning walk or cycle around the reserve. It’s beautiful.

  • Definitely do 2 nights or more. There’s so much to experience at the property so you’ll definitely want to make the most of it.

  • It is a working farm and there are other residents around, but everyone is pretty much to themselves so it still feels private.

  • Montagu is a cute little town worth exploring.

  • Catch sunrise from your bed with a cup of coffee and all the doors open - it’s magical.

  • Try and bring all the food you need. There are a few shops around, but it’s so much easier to just stay parked once you’ve checked in.
