City Living At The Onyx
The stay that made living in the city center cool.
Sometimes a little escape to the city is just as fun as packing your bags and heading to the mountains. Especially when you’re right in the middle of all the city’s coolness and have a picture-perfect view of the city’s most iconic mountain. A weekend at The Onyx is all things good views and city vibes. From the apartment feel hotel room to the indoor/outdoor pool (it’s literally both) and vibey Japanese restaurant, there’s a reason why the city will never fail.
We’ve never really considered living in the middle of the city, but our stay here definitely gave us a glimpse and we loved it.
What We Loved:
Needless to say the amazing views of Table Mountain over the city. It really is crazy how the mountain overlooks the city.
We stayed in the one-bedroom Deluxe and it was so spacious. It also had a kitchen, which is always great for being able to whip up your own meals.
It is pretty cool that the pool area is both indoor and outdoor.
The coffee at The MRKT, where you have breakfast, is amazing. Good coffee on holiday is always a win.
It’s pretty much like getting to stay in an apartment - space and self-catering wise, but you still get all the amenities of a hotel.
YU Restuarant, which is on-site, has some incredible dishes.
Tips / Recommendations:
Try the restaurant, YU, it’s totally worth it. We had the sushi and bao buns and it did not disappoint.
If you’ll be in Cape Town for a while it’s a great spot to get comfy. Hotel breakfasts and amenities, with the space to work, relax and even do a bit of self-catering. However, if you are also looking for a little weekend in the city it works great too.
